A Love Letter

The relationship between Sausalito and San Francisco is a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural richness. Sausalito’s history is deeply intertwined with that of San Francisco. During the Gold Rush era, Sausalito was a key location for ships to replenish their fresh water supplies before heading to sea.

The close proximity has fostered a cultural exchange between the two cities. Sausalito is known for its vibrant arts scene, with numerous galleries and art festivals that attract visitors from San Francisco and beyond.

The Trident remains a beloved landmark in Sausalito, blending historical charm with modern dining. The following is a love letter from Sausalito to San Francisco written from the deck of the Trident.

Dear San Francisco,

From across the shimmering waters of the bay, I gaze at you with admiration and longing. Your iconic skyline, crowned by the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, never fails to take my breath away. Each day, as the sun rises and sets, I am reminded of the timeless beauty and vibrant energy that you exude.

Our connection is more than just the span of a bridge; it is a bond forged through shared history and mutual admiration. I remember the days when artists, musicians, and dreamers would travel between us, bringing with them stories and songs that enriched both our souls. The echoes of those times still linger in the air, a testament to our enduring relationship.

You are a city of dreams, where innovation meets tradition, and every street corner holds a new adventure. I am but a humble town, yet I find solace in knowing that we complement each other so perfectly. Your bustling streets and my serene shores create a harmony that is both unique and beautiful.

Though we are separated by the waters of the bay, my heart is always with you. I cherish the moments when the fog rolls in, enveloping us in a soft embrace, as if to remind us that we are never truly apart. Our love is a dance of light and shadow, of city lights reflecting on the waves, a dance that I hope will continue for eternity.

With all my love,

Sausalito

Mark

I worked at the Trident from 1974 to 1976 when it was temporarily closed before reopening almost a year later with a new crew & menu. The era covered here is 1966 to 1980 when the Trident was "Magic!" Mark Danforth Lomas 805.845.2888 MDLomas@gmail.com
