Woody Allen filmed part of Play it Again Sam at the Trident Restaurant in Sausalito, California after the Film Unions in New York went on strike. This clip from the film captures the Trident as it was back in the day. Gorgeous waitresses wearing see-through clothing float across the floor and deck of the Trident. What’s missing is the incredible music that was always a wonderful backdrop to the visuals.

Remember those metal plates!
I have fond memories of all the time I spent at the Trident in the 70s as well as Bob Lozoff's "Blue Max" in Lahaina, Maui. They were truly "ground zero" for sex, drugs and rock & roll. Does anyone remember the burglary that happend at the Trident back in those days? Men on a small boat went under the restaurant and drilled a hole in the floor and made off with the safe.
Oh to be back in the 70s!
Yep! I do. How are you doing Richard? Any news from Austin? All the best

Hal.........Good to get your note. All is great here in Austin! Folks are starting to get ready for the country's largest music fest...South By Southwest ( SXSW) in March. Food scene is also booming. Go easy.........RG
I was working in the kitchen that Monday they shot Play It Again and got drafted to work background as a busboy and walked through the scene with the Woody.
I remember the robbery and even got questioned. They thought it was the guys of the old whaler that was moored just off a ways, especially since just a few days later the took off for Hawaii. BTW, that former navy mine sweeper turned whaler was the last working whaler vessel in the US.
Love those days days!
